Why do we feel so alone ?

The world today offers us so many more ways to connect with each other than was ever possible before. Yet, with all this why do we feel so unhappy and ill at ease in this world? Why do we feel more alone? 

The reason is that our true self is the soul, and as soul is of the same essence as God, the real connection we seek is the connection to our Source, that Power called God. All conflicts, fears, anxieties, all troubles stem from the ego, or sense of separateness from our true selves; the God in us.

The first delusion is that we are separate from others. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting our  affection to only a few persons nearest to us. The sad result is that we don’t care for or treat others in the same way we treat ourselves, and we don’t feel cared for by others. 

Feeling separate starts from the misconception that we are bodies. We’re not this limited body, our temporary home. We are the power, the eternal soul that animates the body but when it feels pain, or loved ones or possessions are taken away, it is hard for the soul to believe in the higher values of life. True happiness only begins when one goes out of one’s little self – the ego – and seeks the larger self. To feed the Soul, one must have contact with God. Then the result is true happiness which can only happen when we go out of our little self – the ego – and seek the larger self.

“The imagination of being a separate entity from God is the root of all evil”. (Sant Kirpal Singh) The goal of life is union with the Higher Consciousness. Nothing to do, as He already resides in us. And, all Scriptures, tell us that God wants us to love all and treat everyone as our own flesh and blood as God resides in all. “Love of God and love of all mankind, in fact love of all creation, are the two great fundamentals or main commandments on which the work of all the Masters hangs. “ Sant Kirpal Singh

What is the remedy?

The Power which created and sustains the entire universe, the Godpower or Masterpower, can never be away from you. He is already there-  we simply have to turn our attention towards the Higher Consciousness or God, the very life in us. When the illusion of ego is broken, one feels, “I am not apart from others, but others are parts of the One – God- The Master”. Sant Kirpal Singh

We will never feel alone that way.

Please learn to be receptive to his grace and feel his kindly presence. Riding with you on the buses, chatting with you in the street, sitting with you in the park by your office desk and accompanying you every morning to the office, slowing down by the Lily Pond to check new flowers and walking with you in the evening all the way back by the new moon.
