What is love?

What is love? Do you know what love is? (It) Cannot be expressed in words. As the scriptures say, love is innate in our souls. Because God is love. And we are of the same essence is that of God…And the way back to God is also love. Sant Kirpal Singh

Everyone has felt love at some point in their lives; for a partner, family, friend, even a pet. But what exactly is love? Love is the highest expression of the soul, the attention we put on someone or something. It allows us to become so absorbed, that for awhile, we forget our sense of existing separately. What we actually felt, in that friend, family, partner, or pet, was God. That very feeling of love is God. Attention, love, consciousness, and God are the same.

However, worldly love is limited, temporary, and flawed. When you focus your love and attention on your loved ones, you have none left for those outside your circle.

 It is like loving a piece here or there. And further, worldly love is all self-interest. There is an expectation of something in return. As long as everything runs smoothly, all is well. But, eventually, the partner will go, parents, pets, all go, and then you are left empty. This is the result of earthly love. You gave the whole God to your physical companions, and when they leave, or the affection or body dies, you lost God for nothing.

But God doesn’t want you to have only a little love here, and a little there. He wants you to have unlimited love, because that is what He is, and you are a drop of that.

Love is defamed in the world, because what we call love is not love. We love the perishable things, and our love perishes along with them. But the love of God is unperishable, that lives forever."  Sant Kirpal Singh

So who should we love? "The soul is a conscious entity, and so it must go to All-Consciousness. The soul should love God; the true Master; the formless form of the Master." But why the formless form? The Formless, the One in all, takes form in you and in every being.

..."True love is loving the One within everyone. When you love the One, you love all...When you have that love of God in you, you will love all humanity; you will not hate anyone... Forms come and go, but the One behind them all, remains." See how important it is to love All? You cannot transcend unless you love Him in every form. This is how we can love the whole of God, as He loves us.

We came to this earth plane to learn how to love unconditionally, as God would do. Love God with all our hearts, and love our fellow man is the basis of every spiritual teaching. To have this real, lasting unconditional love for everything, we must first love the only source of unconditional love, the Godpower or Masterpower, which dwells within us.. "Love everyone for the sake of God." Only then can we truly love everyone the way they are meant to be loved; without selfish motive, as they are.
