What are we here for?

Updated: Oct 2
When life is running smoothly, we're content to live it as it comes. But in times of crisis, or when life becomes overwhelming, we may find ourselves asking: What are we truly here for?
To answer this question, Masters ask us to reflect honestly on our own lives. Are we here only for selfish purposes, to fill our stomachs, and our bank accounts, “no matter the cost to others” ?… “Are we responsible only for our own families, while our neighbours children go hungry or die?” If we're truly honest with ourselves, we must acknowledge that there is “a higher purpose to our lives”. We can only recognize that higher purpose when we understand who “we” really are.
We think we're a distinctive body - with a name, and a heritage given to us by birth in a particular family, race, religion, or place. So on the body level, we have so many labels which we can use to identify ourselves; however, none of these bear any resemblance to our true identity.
That, what we are, we do not see. And that, what we see, is only our shadow. Sant Kirpal Singh
God, through His will, “wanted from one to become many”; thus the Limitless, Omnipresent God is present in every soul. Indeed, the term man “is merely a name applied to incarnated God-spirit on the earth-plane.”
Who we really are is the soul - a spark of God which has a body. When we forgot this identity, we became merely the impermanent body.
The Masters therefore tell us in no uncertain terms: “To be born and to die is not the true reason why this creation came into being. The real reason is perfection - to become conscious of one's true self; God, and nothing less.“ Unfortunately, our deep identification with body and mind make it difficult to understand this truth. “Those who see themselves only at the body’s level can never find lasting happiness.” To view life in its true condition, we need to change our angle of vision.
LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE TO BE LIVED, NOT A PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED.
Someone once said that “Life is a beautiful adventure to be lived, not a problem to be solved”. This is a perfect description of the soul’s journey.
The Master illustrates this journey through the story of a drop from the ocean. It rises as vapour, which falls as snow on a mountaintop, and eventually that same water melts and returns to the ocean. Seen in this light, our purpose becomes clearer: our souls, drops of God, are also coming full circle - having taken on material expression in various forms, from the lowest mineral, progressing with each birth through more and ,ore conscious life forms, until reaching the pinnacle; the human form - and now the completion of that journey is to return back to our Source, where the soul dissolves once again into the Ocean of all Consciousness—God.
This is the story of each one us then; not one of strife and struggle, but of perfection in the hands of our Father. As the Master explains, “The whole Creation came only for this, for this game—to reveal the God in each man.”
OUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP TO GOD
Unless you know who you are and what you are and what your relationship is with God and all creation, you cannot be fully at peace. Sant Kirpal Singh
The greatness of God is that He created each soul only one time, completely unique, like a fingerprint. Each soul has a unique relationship with Him, and a unique journey with a unique reason for which He sent us here. His only wish is that we should be happy, and the way is to discover what our unique relationship with Him is.
He is the most sacred “Personal God” to whom man may pray and seek a solution of his problems from birth to death and after.” Sant Kirpal Singh
This is no religious dogma, no dry life. It is a love story. God created this life, this unique existence, this adventure just for us, and He watches in joy as it unfolds. Even the earthly life gets better. The more we identify with the God within us, and the less with this fake-identity body, our lives would fulfill the purpose for which He sent us and be of great use not only for ourselves, but for all humanity. He is always within us. He is the one seeing through our eyes. We can talk to Him, share our joys and miseries with Him, and ask for His Guidance in all things.
This is our true purpose; that God should sit here where we are now. Nothing added, nothing taken out, only Truth revealed.
